About Budy
Most of time people called me as ‘buddy’. Even though it is not a correct pronunciation, I enjoy it very much. I am a ‘buddy’ of everyone, even for the strangers
When I was working for Cap Gemini, half of the staffs in the office called me ‘buddy’, another quarter called me ‘woody’, ‘yudi’, ‘rudy’, or similar names that ended with ‘dy’, and the last quarter called me using a correct pronunciation. The ‘u’ should be pronounced similar to ‘u’ in ‘put’ and the ‘dy’ should be pronounced similar to ‘dy’ in ‘buddy’.
I was born in a small town outside Jakarta, Indonesia and I spent 25 years there. In late 1990s, I shifted to Singapore and have been living in Singapore since then. However, after many years here, I still have an Indonesian accent. At least better, from the time I came to Singapore. In the past, all taxi drivers could tell me I am an Indonesian from my accent, now only one or two for every taxi drivers, hahaha
I am also still struggling with Mandarin. Proficiency in Mandarin is my next target after I completed my Master.
I am an IT Engineer and Manager with a wide range of skills and experiences, such as Networking, System Administration, Software Development, Quality Assurance/Control and Management. People may say I am a generalist, which means I may not know each area in detail. But being generalist also means I can see problems from many perspectives and give a complete solution (with emphasis on quality and long-term benefits). I like the concept of user-centered design and ‘Keep It Simple Stupid’.
My current responsibility is in Business Process Transformation and project management.
Other than working, I spend my time writing blog, watching movies, reading (any topics will do) listening to musics (no specific genre, as long as I like the music) and … cooking. Don’t ask me to cook fancy dishes. I cook simple dishes for my dinner, when I have a craving for my mother’s dishes, or when I feel stressed. Really, if you are under stress, go to kitchen and cook. It works.
I am holding a master degree – Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Software Engineering – from Institute of Systems Science, National University of Singapore. I am also a certified PMP (Project Management Professional) and CEAP (Certified Enterprise Architecture Practitioner).
I was a programmer, with experience using various programming languages (Java, .NET, PHP, VB, etc), as well as system administrator (Linux, Windows, Lotus Notes, CheckPoint Firewall, etc). Now I do programming for fun, mostly using XSL, JavaScript and ActionScript. Sometimes I use my skill to test the applications, especially to test the quality and security of the application.
I also have a strong interest in Aviation. In the past I was also a lecturer.
I am single, but not available.
